Facebook went offline for several individuals on Thursday, with the globe's most popular social media network informing individuals that "something failed".

When checking out Facebook.com, instead of seeing the typical homescreen or information feed, individuals were greeted with an empty display and a brief mistake message.

" Sorry, something failed. We're working with it as well as we'll get it taken care of as soon as we can," the message reviews.

The blackout started at around 5.30 pm BST but, for the majority of users, appeared to have been settled around 20 minutes after.

Down Detector, which collates records of popular services being down, showed interruptions in the UK, Europe and the US.

Of course, people required to Twitter to have their say.

The web site decreased on Thursday afternoon and brief-ly appeared to work once more for some customers.

A spokesperson for Facebook has claimed they are checking into what occurred.

On The Other Hand, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook chief executive, went to an event placed on by Oculus, the virtual reality headset firm Facebook has.
