Got this myself on my phone, and also it simply refused to update. Right here's what worked for me.

Edit: this appears to be a problem that Facebook understand. It's an issue with the Facebook app, and also not a generalised Play Store issue.

This is what helped me at least.

  1. Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Store, Clear information and Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Solutions > Manage area, Clear all information as well as Clear cache


It does not harmed if you reboot your phone before you attempt updating facebook once more. And, the install was SLOW. Simply at the very least 4-5 mins. But, it did job. Otherwise try to uninstall it, or just wait on a solution.
