Got this myself on my phone, and also it simply refused to upgrade. Here's what helped me.

Edit: this seems to be an issue that Facebook recognize. It's a concern with the Facebook app, and not a generalised Play Shop problem.

This is what benefited me a minimum of.

  1. Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Shop, Clear information and also Clear cache

  2. Settings > Apps > All > Google Play Solutions > Manage area, Clear all information and also Clear cache


It doesn't hurt if you reactivate your phone before you try updating facebook once again. And, the install was SLOW. Simply a minimum of 4-5 minutes. But, it did job. If not try to uninstall it, or just wait for a solution.
